The setting is important because Noah and Allie first meet in North Carolina in the summer. he promised her he was going to fix up this old house. 14 years later, she sees in the newspaper that he has finished the house. she returns to visit him and thats when we reunite and fall in love all over again. They get married and still live in the same town and have kids and live a happy life.
